Don't look down!

As I figuratively soared high above my finances to get a bird's eye view, I decided it's definitely not good to look down! When your CC debt is not too much less than your annual take home salary, THAT is a problem. Oh well, one day at a time! In my case it averages a thousand or two a year for 20 years or so, but I think it has only been accumulating over the last 10 years, or actually it has to be less since I can't have juggled 0% rates for that long! Oh my, I have work to do!

    We are right there in the trenches with you! Looks like we have a similar amount of CC debt. Yuck!EEK!

    Yes, it's a deep hole isn't it? Hey, I linked over to your blog (this software is very slick!) and it sounds like we are almost inverses of each other. I am the cheap husband and I desperately need to get my wife onboard to help save our lives here. I do the bills and my years of complaining about increasing debt have not made an impression. I've tried to get her involved so she can see it happening, but she wants to stay on denial. She just wants me to pay the debt out of retirement funds, so I definitely have some work to do with her. I am very impressed with how hard you are working to dig out! As with many other blogs here, it's hard to believe you are the same person who got into the hole. I guess it just shows how easily it can happen to good people - apparently you just can't let your guard down. I just started on a great book suggested by luxliving, David Bach's "Smart Couples Finish Rich". It says to start by defining your top five values, and since security is at the top of my list, that seems like a good start. So since I got into this debt gradually, I am so glad I finally made the move to attempt to start getting out, and I look forward to swapping ideas, stories, savings, rants, raves, etc. with you all here. Smile

    It really helps to have your spouse onboard with you. I am so glad my husband is not a spender. (except for cars) That is the only debt we ever have.

    I think my wife tries, she doesn't do too bad at shopping and stuff most of the time, and as she tells me, she spends on the kids more than herself. It's the not being able to say no to the kids that has me in this college quandary. Much as I don't like debt myself, I sure hate to see them graduate with $100k of debt! Yes, it's economic reality that we desperately need in this house.

    With tuition and and dental work I am slowly but surely moving back up Frown but I will definately be trying to get it paid by the end of the month. I am even thinking about taking the funds from my challenge Frown Good luck
